Participating Characters: Jason Blood & Anyone who has a reason to seek Jason out
Forum Location: Gotham City
Time of Day: Late Afternoon
Weather: Sunny
Thread Location: His office at Gotham University
Premise: Jason is holding office hours for students that might have questions for him and working on his own research and projects.
The small office Jason kept at Gotham University was nothing much more than a hole in the wall big enough for his desk, a bookshelf, a file cabinet, and a couple of chairs. Trying to fit two humans inside to sit in said chairs and closing the door in order to have some privacy was sometimes a feat of acrobatics, but generally it was just Jason and his books and his research and the restricted space suited him just fine. The room was silent for the moment save for the steady rhythm of Jason’s fingers clacking methodically against the keys of his computer’s keyboard. It was after noon now, the sun seeming to increase the pace of it’s daily journey across the sky more with each passing dawn, causing the days to pass quickly and blur together, one no more distinct than another. Despite the patchwork schedules of college attendees, it was likely that most students would be finishing up their classes for the day and the peaceful quiet he’d enjoyed would be ending.
As part of his agreement with the University, Jason was holding a block of his required office hours so that any students that might have had questions about his lectures, or really just in general, had an easy way to reach him. Jason didn’t hold regular classes in the typical sense of a college course and instead just had a lecture here and there regarding his various specializations. Given that most people found demons and the occult to be nothing more than fantastic tales and make-believe, Jason discovered finding any type of long term paying job with any reputable University to be even more make-believe. The part time arrangement he’d enjoyed with Gotham University served to help him pay his bills and a offered quiet place to work if he had to be away from home. Jason didn’t often have students coming by either particularly because he tried to make his office hours as inconvenient as possible. A little underhanded perhaps, but it enabled him to get much more work done.
For all the things Jason found increasingly infuriating about technology, he couldn't deny the plethora of advantages it offered him. Computers and their ability to easily create and modify documents of text were an actual gift from the almighty. It made keeping records of his encounters with Morgaine as well as his research and logs over the years exponentially easier to update and search. Not to mention it helped him work out presentations and visuals for his lectures and even just basic communication with others via emails and other instant messaging services. Technology had come a long way in helpful and convenient ways. But just like everything it had its downsides. The noise for one thing.
Jason’s office door stood slightly ajar. A class must have let out as the hall had started to flood with indistinct chatter, the sound drifting through the opening. It also chimed and rang with the sounds of varying cell phone text and ringer sounds. He sighed, momentarily distracted from the piece he was working on regarding a recent attempt by a group of kids on campus to summon some kind of spirit and instead ended up with one of them possessed and Jason had to clean up their mess. Shaking off the distracting sounds, Jason attempted to focus and block out the sounds as he resumed his diligent typing.
