New Member Information
Read Everything. It is important that you read through all the rules and expectations before you join our site to make sure it is a good fit for what you are looking for in an RP.
Choose A Character. After you've decided you do, in fact, want to join this game, check the Canon Lists to see if the character you want is available. If the character you want is not listed, please read through the Character Selection Information to see if there is a reason. Please PM an admin with any questions about choosing your first character.
Account Registration. When you first register an account please try to choose a name that has something to do with the character you are applying for or use a nickname of yours. The display name will be changed to your character's full civilian name when your application is approved. Any inappropriate or offensive account names will be deleted. Once you've created an account, you have one week to apply for a character. If no application is posted within that time, your account will be deleted.
Application. Make sure to mark any unfinished application with 'WIP' (Work In Progress) so that the staff know that it is not ready for review yet and remove it when complete. You have one week from the time you post a WIP to finish your application. Unfinished applications will be deleted at that time. (Deleting and reposting the application before the week is up won't extend the deadline.) Please review the Application Guidelines for more details about applying.
Previous Character Continuity. As a general rule no character is expected to include any of the past storylines or thread continuity established by someone who previously played the character. You may incorporate it based on the request of another member looking to continue or play out previously planned scenarios but again, you only need do it at your own discretion. You may be asked to include some things as we go along but nothing that will majorly affect the character.
Don't Ask About Finished Applications Awaiting Approval. Once you've finished your application please don't ask about it in the Shoutbox or via PM. If there will be a significant delay chances are you will receive a PM explaination but regardless please know we are doing our best to get you approved ASAP. You can check the Application Status thread to see if we've started reviewing it.
Don't Post Anywhere On The Forum Until Your Application Is Approved. Please wait until your application is approved to post anywhere else, including the Introduction section. When that happens you'll receive a PM stating that your app has been moved, your name and rank will be updated, and you'll be added to the Member Directory. It is now okay for you to begin posting on the board.
Getting Started. Once you have an approved character, you can begin looking for threads. Chatting in the Shoutbox is a great way to meet our members and quickly see if anyone currently available would want to thread with you. If there is a specific character you want to write with, you can send the player a PM/DM (Private Message/Direct Message) to see if they are interested. You can also check out The Plottage Board to post your own plotting thread or respond to other members' requests. If you are having problems getting involved, PM a staff member and they can make suggestions or otherwise try to help.
Keeping Your Characters and Staying a Member. The main thing we ask is that all members treat each other with respect. This is supposed to be a fun writing experience for everyone. So as long as you use your common sense and don't start trouble you should have no problems here. You are also expected to maintain some sort of presence on the forum. If you disappear completely without an absence post we have no choice but to remove your characters. Check out our Activity Requirements for more specific details.
