DOVE |
Character Basics |
REAL NAME: Donald Hall CODENAME: Dove AGE: 23 OCCUPATION: College student RANK: Meta Hero MARITAL STATUS: Single ALLIES: Hawk/Hank Hall, Justice League TEAM AFFILIATION(S): Justice League |
Powers, Abilities, Skills, Strengths |
Superhuman Physiology - By saying the word "Dove," Don can transform into his costumed alter-ego, a source of the power of Order by the same name. In this form, all of Don's physical traits are greatly augmented, allowing him to deliver and receive damage that would kill a normal human. Specifically, Dove is nimble, agile, swift and dextrous, even by superhuman standards. Perception - Don's awareness of cause and effect is wildly augmented when he is Dove. He uses this deductive reasoning to compliment his evasive fighting style, specializing in Judo throws, using an opponent's weight and turning their strength against them. Peacemaker - Dove is compassionate and empathetic, able to make a lot more progress with simple, soothing speech than most are able to. Education - Don is currently working toward several degrees with his primary focus on an eventual Masters of Humanities. |
Weaknesses, Fatal Flaws |
Pacifistic - Dove avoids conflict and only uses violence as a last resort. Even then, he usually doesn't throw a punch and tries to let his enemies defeat themselves. This can make fights carry on a lot longer than they would otherwise, and at times isn't the wisest course. It Comes In Twos - He's designed to pair with his brother, Hawk. They work best as a pair because they're supposed to behave as one. Without Hank, Dove is significantly less impactful in a crisis. Dexterity Over Strength - Though superhumanly strong and durable, Dove is still on the more fragile side of his weight class. Impacts, attacks, blows, etc that Hawk would be able to shrug off would stun or incapacitate Dove - part of the reason why he prefers to dodge and evade. |
Character History |
Don was born as the second son of a renowned judge, Irwin Hall. As a young man, he and his older brother, Hank, stumbled upon a criminal's sprawling plan to murder their father. Don and Hank were swept up in the scheme and tried to prevent it. In a moment of mortal danger, the pair became avatars for Order and Chaos; Dove and Hawk respectively, and managed to survive and thwart the criminal. From there, Hawk and Dove slowly made a name for themselves in the world of costumed crime fighting. Soon they were enlisted in the Justice League and became steadfast members. In his civilian identity, Don continued his college education as well, pursuing degrees that would work toward his planned Master of Humanities. On one particular occasion, Don and Hank teamed up with Wonder Woman to combat the Annihilator in a war-torn Kaznia. The perpetrator behind the mounting hostilities was revealed to be the God of War, Ares. Eventually, Dove realized that hatred and anger fueled the Annihilator and by convincing the warring factions to cease fighting, enabled Ares's defeat. Dove has tackled potential world-ending threats along with the rest of the Justice League as well, specifically Mordru, the Ultimen and so forth. |

"You're Dove, right?" Don remained unflinching at the fist rushing toward his head - large enough that its hairy digits could've held his entire skull like a stress ball. He pivoted at the last moment. The air from the passing fist buffeted the exposed lower portion of his face and, as the punch knocked a crater in the pavement and pulverized cement into the air, Don flipped backwards to create some space. "I'm flattered that you recognize me," he said, even-toned, but not insincere. Dove was under no delusions about his level of fame. He may have been a member of the Justice League, but he was far from internationally-recognized. And that was all right. Don had never approached his superheroic career because of the notoriety. So long as he was doing good and helping others, he was content. "Where's the other one? Hawk, right? I thought you two were a package deal. Married, or something?" Dove stood, waiting as the meta criminal called Mammoth turned to face him across the Star City street that had become their battleground. He smiled, imagining the look on Hank's face if he'd been there to hear the assumption. "Not quite. And we normally are a pair, but you and your friends were pretty clever tonight. We didn't have any choice but to divide and conquer." Don wasn't aware if the band of super villains wreaking havoc on Star City had a name or were just allies of convenience. Whatever the case, though he and Hank had been dispatched by the League together, instruction from Martian Manhunter when their feet hit the ground had split the unit; five Leaguers headed to five separate crisis points across the city. Don also wondered if Hank would be pissed that he'd not been set against the enemy's bruiser. "Heh," Mammoth chuckled. "Good luck on the conquer part." With a huff of air, he bent forward and started to rush Dove. Don frowned. Again, he waited until the last opportunity, then darted past Mammoth... Only for one of those huge hands to grab his calf and hurl him sideways. Don bounced off the hood of a car, denting, it, rolled over the roof of the cab and landed in a crouch behind the bumper. He winced. Dove didn't like being separated from Hawk in the field. They worked best together for so many reasons. It was all about balance. They evened the other out, two halves of an efficient whole. Order and chaos. Any time the two of them were forced to split, Don was reminded of how much he relied on his brother in a fight. One of Hank's haymakers to Mammoth's jaw would've been pretty helpful just about then. |
