Character Basics |
REAL NAME: Michael John Carter CODENAME: Booster Gold AGE: 28 OCCUPATION: Superhero RANK: Vigilante MARITAL STATUS: Single ALLIES: Justice League, Skeets TEAM AFFILIATION(S): Justice League |
Powers, Abilities, Skills, Strengths |
Power Suit - Michael wears a specialized suit from the 25th century that gives him superhuman strength, superhuman durability, self-sustained flight and the ability to loose energy blasts that can stun targets, vaporize tempered steel or anything in between. Skeets - This hovering android was a curator droid in a 25th century museum that Michael stole. He is Booster Gold's sidekick and close friend, full of trivia and facts. Skeets also has holo-projectors, scanners and a fan built in. |
Weaknesses, Fatal Flaws |
Ego - The entire reason Booster Gold is in this time period is to find fame, glory and adoration from the public. He's gotten over a percentage of this pompous mindset, but it's still an ongoing work in progress. Persona - Michael tries for confidence and charisma but... Tends to come off as full of himself (which he is, to a point) and condescending. Enough so that most fellow Justice Leaguers tend to be annoyed at him by default. Superficial - Booster Gold is quick to trust a pretty face or soften at a compliment. |
Character History |
In the 25th Century, Michael John Carter was a pretty average person, altogether. The two things he had were his looks, and athleticism. As a young man, he made it into professional football for his hometown of Gotham City. However, his family was drowning in gambling debt left by his father. Even a big time football star couldn't afford that and the treatment his recently diagnosed mother needed to have a chance to survive a debilitating illness. Michael, feeling he had no alternative, began betting on and purposefully throwing games for the payoff. He managed to pay for his mother's treatment, but was soon discovered and his career and reputation went up in scandalous flames. Michael served some jail time and, when he was released, got a job as a security officer for a museum in Metropolis. There he was surrounded by historical records, exhibits and relics of superheroes from the past. Struck with an idea on how to reclaim his lost fortune and adoring public, Michael stole a hi-tech power suit and a museum curator droid named Skeets. Using time traveling technology, he traveled back to the 21st century and debuted as Booster Gold. Though he got enough traction to become a member of the Justice League, on the whole Michael's plan continually flopped, often mistaken for Green Lantern, if he was acknowledged by civilians at all. During Mordru's attack on Metropolis. Booster Gold helped prevent a world-ending disaster caused by a STAR Lab experiment gone wrong - which one else saw. The event helped Michael make some conscious and measurable steps toward realizing his own selfish goals and what it meant to be a true hero. Booster Gold went on to be a valuable member of the League, helping relief efforts in New Mexico, repel the Ultimen and so forth. |

"Excuse me, but do you have any almond milk?" The Watchtower worker behind the counter looked up with a withering stare. Booster Gold's smile tightened a bit, but he kept it in place. A smile could go a long way... Hypothetically. "Soy?" The worker's grip on the tray he was holding visibly tightened, knuckles standing out white. Rather than answer, the man turned and pushed into the kitchen, out of sight. Michael sighed and pushed off of the counter, shuffling toward his seat. "What?" he asked the droid that floated dutifully over his shoulder. "You're telling me that a place as ritzy as the Watchtower doesn't cater to vegans?" Skeets's crimson lens swiveled onto Booster Gold. "... You're not vegan," he pointed out. "Yeah, but I could be! It's hard to stay spandex-ready, and dairy makes me bloated." Booster Gold plopped back into his seat at a table that was otherwise empty. A few clumps of other Leaguers were dotted here and there, but whether or not Michael even noticed his lack of company was anyone's guess. "But you're eating a cheese omelet," Skeets said, puzzled. Booster Gold pursed his lips. "Whose side are you on?" The droid wobbled in place anxiously. "Yours, of course, sir!" There was a pause while Michael took another bite of his breakfast. "I don't think it was the question, so much as the timing," Skeets said apprehensively. Booster Gold looked up, unconvinced through his visor. "Like it's my fault the guy had just dropped a whole pot full of oatmeal." |
