Powers, Abilities, Skills, Strengths |
Amazon: As an Amazon, Diana is ageless and immortal and possesses superhuman strength and durability. Amazons are also "Warriors Born" having honed their abilities and unique techniques over thousands of years. As a result of such warrior training from an early age, Diana is an extremely skilled combatant with expertise in both hand-to-hand and with various hand-held weapons. Equestrianism: Diana spent most of her life on Themyscira where most transport technology isn't used. She is so attuned to horses that she can ride one without a saddle or bridle. Blessed By The Gods: Diana was born when Hippolyta sculpted her from clay and breathed life into her. She was further blessed by the Greek gods with various advanced abilities including speed, reflexes, strength, and flight. Armor of Athena: A set of armor created by the Greek god Hephaestus for her mother Hippolyta. Initially Diana took the armor without her mother's knowledge but later when she returned to restore balance to Tartarus her mother unlocked the armor's full power for her. By spinning very quickly she can suit up at a moment's notice.
Pilot: Diana is a capable pilot and has the skill to fly various types of aircrafts.

Weaknesses, Fatal Flaws |
Headstrong: Diana is quick to rush into a fight without a plan and pursue fleeing enemies. Temper: Though she is not necessarily quick to anger once she is triggered, she can become reckless and volatile. When they thought Superman had died, she almost killed Toyman and she was overly brutal with some thugs when they interrupted her "day off." Grudges: Diana does not forgive broken trust lightly. For example, though she has put her personal feelings aside for the sake of the League, Diana will never truly forgive Shayera's betrayal during the Thanagarian invasion. Exiled: For doing what she had to in order to save her people and home from an outside threat, Diana paid the ultimate price and was exiled. She is forbidden from returning to Themyscira and it weighs upon her. Warrior: Diana was trained as a warrior. Just like a soldier in a warzone, she is prepared to take a life in battle if necessary which goes against the will of most of her teammates. Honor: Diana is a woman of her word and as such if she agrees to something, she will follow through. This has resulted in such actions as agreeing to her exile without question and helping Felix Faust obtain the key to Tartarus. Naive: Still young by Amazon standards she still has much to learn. Further she is very new to the "world of man" and is still very much adjusting to her surroundings and all the differences. Lasso of Truth: While it is her weapon, it can just as easily be wielded against her. Mortal: Despite being ageless and immortal, Diana can still be killed. Armor: There is a weakness in her armor known only to Hephaestus. |
Character History |
Diana grew up a princess on the island of Themyscira isolated from the rest of the world with her mother Queen Hippolyta and the Amazons, a tribe of warrior women. She was unique in that her body had been sculpted from clay and gained life when Hippolyta breathed life into her. She was further blessed by the gods and granted many gifts such as flight and physical prowess. Unsettling omens began to present themselves and Diana feared for the fate of mankind but Hippolyta did not share her concerns citing that whatever happened beyond these shores was no concern of theirs. Diana felt compelled to help and under the cover of darkness stole Athena's armor and traveled to the mainland. Together with Superman, Batman, J'onn J'onnz, The Flash, Hawkgirl, and John Stewart the Green Lantern, Diana helped beat back an alien invasion of the Imperium and decided to stay, becoming one of the seven founding members of the Justice League. She assisted the team on many missions becoming a valued member of the team. After a few months guilt began to gnaw away at Diana and she returned to Themyscira to face her mother. However, while she was away her home was attacked by Felix Faust and her fellow Amazons, including her mother, had been turned to stone. Faust promised to turn everyone back if she gathered all the fragments of the key to Tartarus. With no other options, Diana agreed and with the help of the Justice League reassembled the key. Faust was able to open the gates of Tartarus and free Hades, but Diana, Hippolyta, and the Justice League managed to defeat Faust, drive Hades back into the pit, and free the Amazons. But for Diana's decision to enlist the help of her male companions, she broke the Amazon's most sacred law and was exiled from Themyscira. With the door to her old life on Themyscira closed, Diana continued her work with the Justice League. She assisted the team in protecting Gorilla City when Grodd launched four nuclear missiles with intent to destroy the city. She stopped one of the missiles but the momentum of it drove her into the ground. She forced her way back to the surface and crushed the final missile's guidance system. Diana noted the dirt on Batman's gloves as he tried to dig her out and she rewarded him with a kiss on the cheek. One night while exploring a mall Batman approached Diana claiming he'd had a run in with an Amazon leading a heist. Diana was skeptical at first but she soon encountered the woman herself recognizing her as an Amazon named Arisia. Arisia unleashed a literal plague on mankind and the male half of the city began to fall sick as the illness spread. It even eventually took down the male members of the Justice League. Star Sapphire lured Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl into a trap but working together the managed to stop Arisia's further spread of the plague, rescue Hippolyta, and find an antidote to cure the men afflicted by Arisia's plague. Upon returning to the Watchtower after a mission, there was some kind of a temporal disturbance. The team returned to Earth to investigate only to discover things were not as they left them. Someone named Vandal Savage had changed the past so that the Allies lost WWII and Savage was now the undisputed dictator in the world. Traveling through the same wormhole, the Justice League arrived in the past, intending to reverse the damage that had been done to the timeline. The situation proved complicated because Savage had sent back plans and technology from the future that severely tipped the scales against the Allies. While in the past Diana rescued an attractive, capable, smooth talking man named Steve Trevor who referred to her as "Angel" after she saved his life and the two of shared a brief romance. Together the Justice League with the assistance of the Blackhawks, Trevor, and other troops managed to defeat Vandal Savage and restore history to its proper continuity. After returning to their own time, Diana went and visited an aged Steve Trevor. While trying to get out more and have some fun, Diana attended a party in Paris. She met Bruce Wayne and they shared a dance. Their banter was interrupted when the party was crashed by Kasnian terrorists. Diana stopped them and rescued Princess Audrey with minimal trouble. She stayed with Audrey at the princess's request both as a protector and friend. Shortly thereafter Diana discovered that Audrey was engaged to Vandal Savage and Diana strongly objects, offending Audrey. Diana attempted to prevent the marriage but only succeeded in getting herself captured. Batman freed her and together with the rest of the Justice League they were able to thwart Vandal. Diana, who had made the connection that Batman was Bruce, observed to Batman that they never did get to finish their dance. He denied knowing what she was talking about. When confronted with Grodd's first attempt at a Secret Society, Diana was influenced against her teammates just like the others and went her own way when the team split. When Grodd's influence was discovered, the team reconciled but things were a little rocky after that. Diana participated in many other missions alongside the Justice League. She helped thwart Morgaine Le Fey's attempt to obtain the Philosopher's Stone. She traveled to New Genesis with Batman to enlist the help of Orion and the New Gods in preventing Brainiac from assimilating another world and defeat Darkseid when he betrayed them. Diana attempted to assist in destroying A.M.A.Z.O but was overwhelmed like the rest. Instead, she helped retrieve J'onn and with his help the team was able to subdue the android. She worked to stop the Justice Lords when they tricked and trapped them in their alternate universe and tried to bring "order" to their dimension. She became possessed by Eclipso when the Heart of Darkness was uncovered but was rescued by Flash. She travelled to Ichthultu's realm with the rest of the Justice League and assisted in destroying him. She mourned for Superman when he was sent to the future and they thought he had died at the hands of Toyman. When the Thanagarians arrived on Earth, Diana voiced her support for them and their help against the Gordanians. She returned to the Watchtower with Batman and they learned that the attack from the lone Gordanian ship had been staged and Earth set up. Diana stayed in communication with Batman as he infiltrated the ship and warned Superman when Batman was captured. She was captured soon after when the Thanagarians infiltrated the watchtower with the codes Hawkgirl gave them. She managed to get the jump on one of the guards and broke the incarcerated Justice League out of the Thanagarian cells. The group took shelter in a department store as the Thanagarians cased the city for them. With no other choice, the team revealed their secret identities to each other and went underground. Dressing in civilian clothes, the team decided to split up and meet back up at Wayne Manor. Diana went with Bruce and their cover was almost completely blown when they stepped in to protect some civilians. As they were fleeing a restaurant owner intercepted them and hid them from their pursuers. As an added attempt to throw them off and conceal their faces, Diana kissed Bruce. After they were clear, they rendezvoused at Wayne Manor where Hawkgirl found them and explained the Thanagarian's true plan. They fended off a strike team and split up to deal with the Bypass. While attempting to infiltrate the Thanagarian flagship to disable the force field surrounding the Bypass, Diana found Hawkgirl and reluctantly freed her. After the Thanagarians retreated, the team had a meeting to decide Hawkgirl's fate. Diana voted no to keeping her on the team but it didn't matter as Hawkgirl resigned and left. After the invasion, Diana remained on as one of the founding members of the team as they worked to rebuild and expand their numbers. She continued her adventures with them. She helped rescue Superman from Mongul and the Black Mercy. She was one of the League members that was turned back into a kid to stop Mordred when he banished all adults. She helped battle Mordru. She futilely helped in the efforts to prevent A.M.A.Z.O. from reaching Luthor when he returned to earth. She advocated for the Ultimen joining the Justice League and befriended Long Shadow before he and his friends discovered the truth behind their existence. She helped repel the replicating alien invading force surrounding the Dark Heart. She helped evacuate an island during a volcano eruption and subsequently rescued Superman when Doomsday went after him. She helped Deadman rescue the heart of Nanda Parbat when Grodd and his team stole it in an attempt to rewrite the DNA of all humans into ape DNA. Diana was also one of the women in the Justice League put under the control of Roulette when she took control of the League's communicators for her Glamour Slam special. As she spent more time among mankind Diana became exceedingly disillusioned and frustrated with humanity. She became more brutal and violent when dealing with petty criminals feeling like they deserved everything they got. When Ares unleashed The Annihilator, she was forced to face her inner anger and was only then able to discover the secret to defeating Ares and his Annihilator. Diana later encountered Circe while on a stake out with Batman. Diana attempted to give Bruce a little push to have some fun with her when Circe made her move. When they attempted to intercept her, Diana was turned into a pig and it was pretty much a blur until she was restored to normal and found herself in some kind of slaughterhouse. She later was informed either by Circe or Zatanna that Batman had performed "Am I Blue" in trade for restoring her to her human form. One night Hermes appeared to Diana and told her that Zeus had decreed she travel to Tartarus and restore Hades to his rightful throne, defeat Felix Faust, and restore balance between chaos and order. Diana attempted to borrow Shayera's Nth metal mace and Shayera walked in on her. Shayera told her she could only have the mace if Shayera came with her. The pair of them traveled to Themyscira where Hippolyta unlocked the full potential of Diana's armor and Shayera and Diana entered Tartarus. They confronted Faust but were teleported away. They found and freed Hades and Diana was able to defeat Faust with Shayera's mace. The balance was restored and she and Shayera came to a tentative peace. When the Justice League's binary fusion generator discharged without the League's authorization, it was Diana's idea to dismantle it as a show of good faith and agreed with Superman's idea that they should turn themselves over to US custody until their innocence could be proven. When Batman proved that Lex was behind the attack, Waller let the League out and they confronted him together. To everyone's shock, they discovered that Brainiac had implanted him inside Luthor. She along with the founding members of the Justice League went after Luthor/Brainiac and were pitted against Brainiac created clones of themselves. Diana threw the Javelin at Brainiac's base but it still wasn't enough. Wally managed to defeat Brainiac but only by tapping so deep into the Speed Force he almost lost himself. Together the team pulled him back. After everything, the team planned to disband the Justice League but Green Arrow talked them out of it. At the behest of her mother, Diana attended a global warming conference as a representative of Themyscira. She wasn't thrilled about it but didn't want to let her mother down. After feeling like her mouth had run away with her, Diana stepped outside for some air and had a chat with Agent Faraday. The assembly was interrupted when a group of meta villains attempted to steal the recently uncovered Viking ship. Diana tried to fight them but was poisoned by one of Devil Ray's stingers. Faraday came to her aid but they were outnumbered. Diana called in J'onn who brought Green Arrow. Together they were able to prevent the ship from being taken and they gave the Viking prince a proper burial. Diana continues to serve the Justice League to the best of her ability their small operation having grown into something they never could have imagined. Still unable to return home for any length of time, Diana seeks to find her place among humanity. |

Diana held up her right hand for a moment, poised over the hard surface. ‘Just do it,’ she urged herself. Unable to complete the motion, finally she lowered it and began fidgeting with the gold foil covering the cap of the bottle she held. Her thoughts were racing and harried like Aethon, Eous, Phelgon, and Pyrois as they pulled the sun god’s chariot across the sky. She raised her hand again, immediately lowering it just as quickly, and turned to walk away. She stopped just short of the steps and turned back to again face the large imposing double doors. “For Hera’s sake, Diana,” She scolded herself, “You are the princess of the Amazons. You are a warrior that has fought enemies that have threatened to destroy whole universes. You’ve faced down gods and literally been to Tartarus and back but you can’t knock on a door?” She faced the target with determination and walked back to the door holding up her hand. She abruptly lowered it again and then began pacing, heeled shoes clacking on the smooth ground. She stopped and shook her head. “This is ridiculous. I’m being ridiculous.” Suddenly the door flew open and Diana yelped with surprise. A flight instinct she was unaware she had kicked in and she wanted to retreat to the skies but at the same time was frozen in place. She’d never run from a fight or felt frozen in fear, yet here she was practically cowering on a doorstep and was glad her fellow Amazons couldn’t see her now. She could only pray the gods hadn’t chosen this moment to check in on her. When she realized that it was Alfred, Bruce’s kind-hearted butler and father figure that opened the door and not Bruce, Diana couldn’t tell whether she was relieved or disappointed. Of course Bruce wasn’t likely going to answer his own door. “Excuse me, your highness.” Alfred began politely, “I couldn’t help wondering if you might like some tea while deciding whether to knock or not.” Diana blinked and Alfred pointed to multiple cameras surveying her actions. “Oh, well this is much more embarrassing than I first thought.” Diana noted calmly. “If it makes you feel any better Princess, the master is out at the moment and was not witness to any of this.” “Oh.” Sure. Of course he was. This was... fine. She’d prepared for the scenario where he was already out. She’d just hoped maybe... The disappointment must have been clearly legible on her features as Alfred quirked an eyebrow in response, “Were you, expected?” “Oh, no.” She responded quickly holding up a hand. “I just… thought I’d drop by. Maybe catch him before he… went to work.” She phrased carefully trailing off and not making eye contact. “We don’t really spend any time together outside of work and I thought-“ What exactly did she think? The longer she stood there the sillier she felt. “I’m afraid you’ve missed him in that regard.” Alfred interjected apologetically, saving her from having to think of an ending to her sentence. He hesitated and added, “I’d offer for you to wait but he’s having dinner with a Miss Duquesne and I don’t know how long he’ll be.” Diana felt her heart plummet. “Oh.” She managed, dejectedly, failing miserably at trying to sound casual about it. She smiled sadly, “Well, I’m glad he’s getting out.” She told him genuinely, shifting her gaze to look at the monumental mansion before her. “I hate to think of him cooped up in here all the time.” Alfred returned her smile, “We share that opinion, your highness.” “Please Alfred, call me Diana.” “Then, we share that opinion, Miss Diana.” Alfred repeated and Diana laughed lightly at his continued formality. Despite the laugh she felt as though she might burst into tears at any moment- and hated feeling that way. Alfred’s tone was kind, “I realize I’m no strapping young workaholic vigilante but I would be glad for the company if you did wish to come inside for a bit. I do actually have tea prepared and as you say this is a very large and empty house.” “Thank you, but I’m afraid I wouldn’t be very good company,” She told him regretfully, “Perhaps another time?” Of all the scenarios she’d run through in her mind none of them had featured Bruce out with another woman. Maybe it wasn’t just that he didn’t date. Maybe it was that he didn’t date her. “It would be my honor, Miss Diana.” He said bowing stiffly, “I shall... tell Master Bruce you came by.” Diana smiled, wondering if she should tell Alfred not to bother. Instead, she just handed Alfred the bottle still clutched in her hands, “I’ll just leave this for him I guess. Flash always says that you should never show up anywhere without a gift.” She added, feeling the need to explain herself. Alfred took the bottle, “I’ll make sure he gets it,” he paused and then began, “Perhaps I should tell you, Master Bruce, he, doesn’t drink alcohol.“ “I know. Or I thought I noticed that anyway.” Diana explained sheepishly pointing at the label, “It’s sparkling grape juice.” Alfred looked closer at the bottle and grinned. “Very good, Miss.” Diana turned to go, taking a few steps toward the stairs. “I realize it’s none of my business, but if I may be so bold,” Alfred called after her, “Master Bruce speaks very highly of you. I do believe he cares for you very deeply.” Diana looked back over her shoulder, “If he won’t act on it does it really matter?” Saying it out loud hurt more than she thought it was going to. She sighed and turned back to Alfred, “I know he feels… something for me. That there’s something between us. But it seems like I’m the only one of us that wants to find out what it is. I also know that if I push too hard… he’ll just shut me out.” Diana reached across her body to toy with the edge of one of her silver gauntlets mostly obscured by the sleeve of her silk blouse, “The truth is I’m… I’m lonely Alfred. I was exiled from my home and I don’t really have anyone I’m really close with. J’onn’s been gone finding himself and the rest of the League members have their own lives. All I have is my work with the Justice League and that’s not enough for me anymore. I want- I need more than just this job. I keep hoping-” Diana cut herself off. “I understand, Miss Diana.” Alfred replied gently. He hesitated again, “I do fear that Master Bruce might never be able to give you what you want despite even his wishes.” Diana nodded solemnly. “I know. But I’d be foolish not to fight for something I believe in. Something that could be good for both of us.” If there was anything Diana knew, it was how to fight. And keep fighting. Then again, she also knew a losing battle when she saw one. Nothing was going to change and she was only going to get hurt waiting for someone that refused to let himself love her. Yet how could she just walk away? “If it counts for anything, it is my opinion that you are not the foolish one in this equation, my dear.” Diana laughed, “Thank you, Alfred.” She smiled, turning away again, “Goodnight.” And as the sun began to set, Diana flew away from Wayne Manor uncertain how to deal with the conflicting feelings plaguing her thoughts. |
